This area in Männistö, between Pohjolankatu and Kullervonkatu, may look quite different in a few years’ time, as the City of Kuopio is planning a new playground there.
At this stage, the city is collecting residents’ ideas on how the playground should be developed.
In addition to the playground itself, the city is also considering lighting, seating areas and picnic furniture for the area. According to the city, the existing trees and vegetation will be taken into account in the planning, as well as how people currently move through the area on foot and by bike.
Residents can share their views through a map-based survey (in Finnish), which is open until 9 August.
The draft plan is expected to be made available for public viewing around the turn of the year 2026–2027. If everything goes according to the city’s plans, the new playground will be built during 2027.
