Kuopio’s new wooden performance stage at the market square is set to be completed as planned around the turn of June and July, the city says. Construction work will be completed by the end of June, and the stage will be taken into use soon afterwards. Some structures and equipment will be finalized during the summer.
The stage is located near the corner of Haapaniemenkatu and Tulliportinkatu. Its performance area is approximately 10 x 10 meters. The stage will be introduced in phases. The official opening will take place in connection with the Kuopio Grande event on 29 August.
Bookings for the stage will be handled through the market square supervisor. More detailed booking instructions and further information will be published at ilovekuopio.fi. The summer program will be published on Kuopio Market Square’s communication channels. as events and performances are confirmed. A summer gig application is also open, allowing performers to apply to perform in the market square area and on the new stage.
