When you've accumulated enough birthdays, it's a strangely fascinating experience to notice the first signs of calcium carbonate quietly building up in the blood vessels of your brain. Calcium—that old nemesis—has begun the slow, sneaky process of turning me into an old fossil.
Instead of standing on my metaphorical soapbox, shaking a fist at yet another younger generation for supposedly misunderstanding its own culture, I've decided it's far more productive to adapt myself to the situation.
To be fair, modern times have brought plenty of good things. One development that genuinely puts a smile on my face, time and time again, is the rise of plain language. So many services and publications have been translated into simpler language to help people who, for one reason or another, struggle with reading or comprehension. I mean that sincerely. We have plain-language news, plain-language public services, and even efforts to teach politicians how to communicate more clearly.
I believe Uusi kuopiolainen, as a digital newspaper, should modernize as well. But we shouldn't settle for superficial improvements. We should launch something truly revolutionary.
After all, while plain language serves hundreds of thousands of people in Finland, there's an even larger group that struggles with language in its own unique way: Generation Z, numbering roughly 1.1 million Finns. Feeding their hunger for information in a format they can truly appreciate is, I would argue, an important societal mission.
So, without further ado, here's our first story.
Medication drama was low-key kinda overhyped😭💊
Bro everyone was like:
"yo are my meds cooked?? 💀"
But fr the healthcare regions and Kela are basically just beefing over who's paying the bill 😭🙏
Doctors be like: 👉 "nah, chill, you're still getting your treatment."
Patients: 😰❓
Doctors again: 🗿 "literally nothing changes."
TL;DR:
✨ meds still coming
✨ treatment still happening
✨ stop doomscrolling headlines
Whole thing is way more of a 💸 money issue 💸 than a 🏥 patient issue 😭
Aura: +100
Patients: still getting treated ✅
Comment section: absolutely cooked 💀
The writer is a middle-aged smart-arse who knows absolutely nothing about Gen Z. 🙂
